Treatment when insects get into the ear

Instilling hydrogen peroxide or warm water immediately after an insect has entered the ear can help remove them from the ear.

[P-1]

Some insects such as cockroaches, ants, bugs... often get into people's ears while sleeping, causing severe pain in the ears.

According to specialist doctor 2 Lam Hoang Yen, Department of Ear - Nose - Throat 115 People's Hospital, when an insect enters the ear, it can be handled as follows:

- Add hydrogen peroxide or warm water (warmth is about equal to body temperature) until the insect can't move anymore, then lie on your side to let the water out.

- Use a light to shine on, if the insect is near the outside of the ear and can be seen, use medical forceps to remove it. Note, if you can't get the insect out, you shouldn't try to get it, because the more you try, the more you try to make the insect go deep inside, causing injury to the eardrum, or it will crush them, easily leading to an ear infection.

If you have applied the above first aid methods but still cannot get the insects out, quickly go to the hospital to avoid more serious injuries.

Preventing insects from entering the ear:

- Limit sleeping on the ground, should sleep on the bed.

- Do not eat or drink, cause dirt on the bed, is a source of attracting ants and insects.

- For children, the area around the bed, near the play area needs to be clean, to avoid leaving leftovers, sweets such as candy, dirty milk on clothes, blankets.

- Keep the house clean and cool to limit hiding insects.
